All Abyssus Weapons
Every gun in the Brinehunter arsenal — from the starter Engine Rifle to the secret Fish Deity.
Weapons define how every Abyssus expedition feels. Developed by DoubleMoose Games and published by The Arcade Crew, this brinepunk roguelite FPS gives each Brinehunter one primary weapon per run, augmented by Blessings, Charms, Forge Mods, and a rechargeable ability. Understanding all eight weapons — their ranges, unlock paths, and tier rankings — is the fastest way to climb from your first Abandoned Temple dive to consistent Royal Abyss clears on Steam.
Unlike generic arena shooters, Abyssus weapons are built around modular fire modes. Every gun starts with a baseline primary and secondary attack. As you complete weapon-specific challenges during runs, you unlock additional modes that radically change DPS profiles. A Tesla Gun player might lean into chain lightning for mob control, while a Brine Revolver specialist stacks weak-spot multiplier mods for Herald and boss burst damage. The weapons tier list summarizes which guns overperform at high Brine levels, but your best pick still depends on team composition, Blessing rolls, and personal aim comfort.
The Eight Weapons at a Glance
Below is a quick reference for every weapon currently in Abyssus. Each name links to a dedicated guide with mod recommendations, challenge unlocks, and combat tips.
- Engine Rifle — Starter jack-of-all-trades. Reliable automatic fire, forgiving range, ideal for learning movement and altar routing.
- Shotgun — Close-range specialist. High burst in tight corridors but falls off when elites kite or arenas open up. Generally B-tier in endgame.
- Tesla Gun — S-tier crowd control. Spark orbs and chain lightning delete packed enemy waves with minimal aim requirement.
- Brine Revolver — S-tier boss killer. Weak-spot damage and precision secondary modes make Herald fights manageable.
- Disc Thrower — High skill ceiling. Ricocheting discs reward positioning and angle knowledge; devastating in experienced hands.
- Combat Bow — A-tier precision weapon. Excellent sustained DPS and natural synergy with the Turret ability.
- Plasma Launcher — S-tier AoE king. Unlocked via The Blazing Weapon challenge; clears rooms faster than any other gun when modded correctly.
- Fish Deity — A-tier secret weapon. Unlocked by defeating all three Royal Abyss elites; unique projectile behavior and strong late-run scaling.
How Weapon Progression Works
Your lobby Soul Wheel unlocks account-wide upgrades like Enhanced Weapons and Ascended Blessings, but individual guns still require run-based milestones. During an expedition, weapon challenges appear as optional objectives — finish a depth without taking damage, eliminate elites with secondary fire only, or complete a timed kill streak. Completing these challenges mid-run immediately swaps available fire modes at the next altar or forge visit.
Forge Mods add another layer. Found at the Ancient Forge rooms scattered across Abandoned Temple, Gardens, and Sanctuary, mods permanently attach to your current weapon for the rest of the run. Large Caliber on the Brine Revolver amplifies weak-spot hits. Fan Charm-style projectile additions synergize with Tesla spark orbs. Explosion radius mods turn the Plasma Launcher into a screen-wide delete button. Plan forge routes around your weapon — rushing a mod that contradicts your Blessing stack wastes a scarce resource.
Choosing a Weapon for Your Run
Solo players on learning runs should stay on the Engine Rifle until comfortable with dash timing and depth routing. Co-op groups benefit from role split: one Tesla Gun or Plasma Launcher for add control, one Brine Revolver for boss DPS, and a Combat Bow plus Turret player for sustained objective damage. The Disc Thrower rewards players who already know enemy spawn patterns and arena geometry — bring it when you want to optimize, not when you are mapping a new area for the first time.
The Fish Deity and Plasma Launcher are chase unlocks. New players will not see them for several successful expeditions. That is intentional — both weapons assume you understand Blessing economy, charm priority, and Royal Abyss pacing. Use this hub as your roadmap: read the tier list for meta context, then drill into individual pages before committing Soul Fragments or farm runs to a specific challenge.
